FAQs about communications

Communicating with people in my group

Lots of Re-engage volunteers use social media apps such as WhatsApp, Zoom, and Skype to communicate with other volunteers in their group, and it’s a great way to keep everyone in the loop.

You could set up a WhatsApp group or a closed Facebook group.

Please remember it’s important that volunteers don’t share private information about the older people (including their phone numbers) in social media groups. Please see our confidentiality guidance for more information about this.

No. Our first priority is the safety of older people and in line with our safeguarding training, boundaries and GDPR guidelines you mustn’t add older people to your Facebook friends or to any other social media network.

You can use video calling to communicate with other volunteers both individually and as a group. Please make sure you agree this with all volunteers prior to video calling.

Please remember we don't allow the use of video calling to communicate with older people.

We'd love for you to share photos from your tea party groups, so we've put together some guidance about how you can make the most of social media and what you need to consider when sharing photos.

In line with our safeguarding training, boundaries and GDPR guidelines volunteers and older people mustn’t share personal emails or home addresses.

Complaints, suggestions & keeping in touch

If you’d like to make a suggestion, please get in touch with us using our online contact form.

If your contact details have changed, you can let us know by using our volunteer change of details form.

All Re-engage volunteers should automatically receive Re-engage Matters, our monthly volunteer enewsletter which features relevant news, stories, and guidance.

Please check your spam folder, as our emails might have ended up there. You could also add us as to your safe sender list (your email provider should have instructions on how to do this).

If you still can’t find anything, please let us know by completing our online contact form and we’ll look into this.

We take complaints extremely seriously and we're grateful to people who take the time to tell us when we're falling short of our high standards.

Please see our complaints procedure for more details.

Whenever you contact Re-engage your query will be handled by one of the Re-engage team who, just like our volunteers and older people, are based all around the UK.

Every time you contact Re-engage; we create a record in our database. Even though you may not always speak to the same person each time, everyone in our team will be able to see your record and will either be able to help you with your query or, arrange for the member of the team who looks after the volunteers and older people in your area to give you a call back.

There are many ways you can raise awareness in your local area and help us to reach more older people.

You can post on your social media pages (please get in touch with us if you’d like some images, infographics, or video links to include), and order leaflets by emailing us at info@reengage.org.uk.

You can even ask us to put together a press release to share with your local newspapers and local radio stations.
