Coronavirus update
Whilst we adapt in the face of coronavirus, we will now be recruiting for our new call companions role. Please join our e-news here to find out about new volunteering roles as they become available and other ways to get involved.
Volunteer opportunities
Call companions are volunteers who make regular telephone calls to lonely and isolated, older people. These calls provide a lifeline of friendship for our older people. The regular, warm, friendly chat and companionship is a vital link with the outside world from which they have become isolated.
The group call companion co-ordinators are the main point of contact for a group of our call companion volunteers and the older people they speak to on a regular basis.
Our coordinators are a critical part of the Re-engage team, ensuring that their group of call companions have the support and necessary information to make regular calls to older people.
Re-engage is looking for volunteers to interview new volunteer call companion applicants. You will telephone applicants on behalf of Re-engage and ask them a series of informal interview questions.
This is a remote voluntary role which can be carried out from home. You’ll use and develop your communication skills, gain valuable experience with a national charity and, most importantly, make a real difference to the lives of lonely older people.
