Annual Review 2025-26
1 / 7A message from our Chair of Trustees Jonathan Upton and our CEO Jenny Willott
Between April 2025 to March 2026, we’ve reached 5,998 older people, supported by 6,805 volunteers who have given their time, energy, and care to make moments of connection possible.
Together, we’ve made real progress.
More people have joined our services. We’ve launched new groups in communities where they’re needed most and made it quicker and easier for both older people and volunteers to get involved. We’ve also strengthened the partnerships and systems that will help us grow sustainably - so we can reach even more people in the years ahead.
This year also marked a significant milestone: 60 years of Re-engage.
It gave us a chance to pause and reflect on six decades of reducing loneliness in later life and the thousands of connections made possible during that time by our volunteers.
We celebrated in the way that feels most true to who we are; across the UK, we brought people together for seven anniversary tea parties, enjoyed by more than 600 older people and volunteers. These moments captured what Re-engage has always been about – friendship, conversation, and a sense of belonging.
But behind every number is something much more personal.
It’s someone having something to look forward to each week.
It’s a volunteer choosing to show up, again and again.
It’s the quiet but powerful impact of feeling connected.
At a time when the cost of living and wider pressures continue to shape daily life, these moments matter more than ever.
Our 60th year has not only been about looking back, but about looking ahead. We are building on our legacy – piloting new approaches like Flicks and Friends, growing our partnerships, and diversifying our income so we can continue to reach more people in the years to come.
None of this happens without you. Our volunteers, staff, partners, and supporters.
Thank you for being part of this work, and for helping us move closer to a future where no one faces loneliness in later life.
