November and December are always busy months for the Re-engage team, with fundraising activities, recruitment campaigns and volunteer-led events to mark the festive season.
December saw more than 1,000 new volunteers sign up to join us, either through Good Morning Britain’s 1 Million Minutes campaign, or via our drive to welcome new call companions for a short-term, four-week festive commitment. We’re delighted to say that many Christmas Call Companions have agreed to continue volunteering with us – thank you to everyone who helped make December much brighter for an older person on the other end of the phone.
Our Big Give campaign, now in its 6th year, saw our supporters raise a staggering £60,000, which, after being doubled by the generosity of the Big Give, totalled £126,299.
Music was a key fundraising feature of 2024, with talented musicians Sam Clegg and the children from Parkfield School in Taunton using their talents to raise awareness and donations for us.
Our new head of fundraising and partnerships, Lee Lloyd, who joined us at the start of 2025, said: "As a former volunteer driver, I've seen the difference Re-engage can make. This amazing amount of money will mean many more lonely older people can receive the joy of human friendship and companionship - I can't think of anything better! Thank you to everyone who supports us.”
We were delighted to shine a light on the volunteers who received the most nominations in our annual Marsh Awards, where we recognise the outstanding contributions of every volunteer who gives their time and energy to supporting older people through the services they deliver all year round.
We’re looking forward to seeing what 2025 – which is our 60th year – has in store and are thrilled that you’re joining us on this exciting journey!
