A driving force for fundraising
One of the ways we are able to raise funds is by partnering with corporate organisations who believe in our work and are committed to helping us reduce loneliness for older people across the UK. No two partnerships are the same, and they can often develop in unexpected directions as they explore ways to generate funds for us.
Alfa Travel is a perfect example of how finding a corporate partner with shared values and a common vision can grow into a successful relationship. The generosity of customers, employee owners, friends and family and supporters resulted in Alfa Travel reaching its incredible £100,000 target during 2024. The travel specialists launched a series of successful ‘Re-engage nights’ in its hotels, where guests joined in the fun and games for a small donation, to be in with a chance of winning some special prizes. Feedback from guests highlights just how much they enjoyed these fun and inclusive events: “Absolutely fantastic, have enjoyed taking part at the various hotels, Bonus we won a few prizes whilst helping others.”
“Well done! I'd never heard of it before but since hearing about it at Alfa hotels I've seen info in my local area for Re-engage afternoon teas so know it's going to a good cause.”
Author Glenda Young has thrown herself into supporting us by selling her much-loved books in Alfa Travel’s hotels and holding ‘meet the author’ evenings where she shares her passion for storytelling with people up and down the country. In autumn, a group of generous employees and staff employee owners took on a 26-mile marathon-length trek from Alfa Travel’s head office in Chorley, Lancashire, to one of their hotels in Blackpool, raising more than £3,000.
Managing Director of Alfa Travel, Emma Russell, said: “At Alfa Travel, we believe in the power of community and the importance of making meaningful connections. Partnering with Re-engage has been a truly rewarding experience and we are incredibly proud to have contributed to their mission of reducing loneliness for older people across the UK. From our ‘Re-engage nights’ to the dedication of our team, it’s clear that small actions can have a big impact. We look forward to continuing this partnership in 2025 and beyond, working together to bring joy, connection and support to those who need it most.”
Our head of fundraising and partnerships, Lee Lloyd, said: “Alfa Travel has shown just what can be achieved through creativity, generosity, and determination to support a great cause. It’s a privilege to work alongside such a brilliant corporate partner whose values align so well with ours, who understands what we’re trying to achieve and is willing to come on this journey with us to help reduce loneliness in later life.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to continue the partnership with Alfa Travel and can’t wait to see what the future brings.”
