Are you interested in what our impact team and dedicated impact volunteers does? In 2022-23 we reviewed thousands of survey responses across a number of projects and conducted dozens of interviews and focus groups with older people and volunteers.
We’ve spoken to people about the Re-engage activities they’re involved with as well as how they’re affected by the things happening around us, like the rising cost of living, climate change, and the digital world.
All this feedback gives us a fantastic understanding of the impact of our work and the ways in which older people and volunteers benefit from being a part of Re-engage, as well as insight into how we can work differently, deliver more, and improve people’s experiences.
Within our surveys we often ask about people’s different characteristics, such as age, gender and sexuality. This year we found that more than two-thirds of older people in Re-engage are widowed (67%) and have long-term health conditions (70%). We also learned that almost a third of Re-engage volunteers (29%) are also working full-time, 5% identify as LGBT+ and 65% are aged 55+.
Re-engage is committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging and this information gives us a vital insight into who benefits from and volunteers with Re-engage. This means that not only can we make changes to improve things for the older people and volunteers who are already a part of Re-engage but also try to reach an increasingly diverse population.
