Pauline, 83, from Southampton, lives by herself and is waiting for a visa so she can go and live with her son in Seattle, USA. If she is successful with her relocation she plans to continue the calls with Marie. “I’ll be living with my family but I’ll still be missing England in some ways so it will be good to keep in touch with her,” said Pauline. “We have formed a good friendship through our calls which sometimes go on for an hour or so. It’s never difficult to have a conversation with Marie, there is always so much to talk about. 

“We both get something valuable from the calls. I really appreciate them. Things just couldn’t be better in that respect.”
