The Re-engage Research Group brings together older people, academics, and volunteers who are passionate about research and about making a difference. The group helps to shape research from the ground up – making sure it speaks to the real experiences, needs, and priorities of older people. Group members regularly review incoming research proposals, ensuring research we undertake or partner on is relevant, impactful and centred in the experiences of the older people we support.

Since September 2024, the group has met regularly to share ideas, discuss research topics, and listen closely to one another. After thoughtful conversations and consideration, a topic (the link between access to healthcare services and loneliness) has now been chosen and our first co-produced piece of research is underway.

Group members are now rolling up their sleeves and getting to work; the next phase is about exploring the topic in more depth, reviewing the results from our most recent older person survey on GP access, and deciding on the key questions to ask.
