We are committed to providing resources to help volunteers feel empowered. Our training package consists of:
- The legal requirements in relation to safeguarding
- GDPR
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
It also includes role specific training and reading the volunteers’ handbook, which you can refer back to at any time.
This training is compulsory to help ensure that you can support older people safely, with confidence, and get as much out of the experience of volunteering with Re-engage as possible.
Thanks to your feedback and our evaluation of the training programme, we have recently introduced a couple of updates:
Core training completed
There is now an action box (pictured below) at the end of each of the three core training modules, where you will be asked to add your email address and then click to confirm you have completed that module. This will ensure that your records are automatically updated so you won’t have any unnecessary reminders and we can manage refresher training more effectively.
Role specific training and volunteer agreement
To make the volunteer agreement easier to find so that you can start volunteering as soon as possible, we’ve added an action box at the end of the role specific training module (pictured below). Just click the orange button to open the volunteer agreement which can be filled in and submitted as soon as you have completed your training. If you have applied for more than one role, you can fill in the volunteer agreement at the end of each role specific training module.
Once the volunteer agreements have been submitted you are ready to be matched into a group.
The resources in our training area on the website are freely available for you to refer to at any time.
Below is a quick quiz for you to try when ready.

The first stage of training is to read the volunteers’ handbook. It’s a great introduction to the charity and includes training documents on topics including maintaining boundaries.
Volunteers will then be guided to three core training modules: Introduction to safeguarding, general data protection regulations, and equality, diversity, and inclusion. After completing the core training you move onto your role specific training and finally you complete the relevant volunteer agreement.

Volunteers' Week 2022 - meet Maya
As part of Volunteers' Week 2022 we caught up with one of our younger volunteers, Maya, who we got to know very well when she volunteered with our impact and engagement team. She enjoyed that experience so much that she is about to become a volunteer call companion.
