Everyone at Re-engage is committed to older people being heard, valued and engaged.
Our work focuses on reaching out to people aged 75 and older who are lonely or isolated and who would like to connect with others for companionship.
As volunteers, you help make life better for others, and we wouldn’t be able to deliver our services without you. Here are just a few key highlights from the 2023-2024 financial year that volunteers helped shape:
- Our fundraising team exceeded its target by 20% and still found the time to launch the new Re-engage lottery. The lottery was launched as one way to raise funds to help us reach even more older people, recruit and train more volunteers, monitor our services, and ensure we are meeting our legal and safeguarding obligations. Many people express an interest in supporting us financially and we are looking at a number of different ways that they might do so. We're very clear that there's no obligation to donate and we always respect someone's wishes if they ask us not to contact them about fundraising.
- We were the chosen charity for the BBC Lifeline Appeal and for the seventh year in a row we were invited to take part in Good Morning Britain’s One Million Minutes campaign which attracted 800 new volunteers.
We’ve increased our social media followers significantly and saw a 37% increase in subscribers to our monthly e-news newsletter:
-
Instagram up 45%
-
LinkedIn up 19%
-
Facebook up 12%
Finally, we also broke some Re-engage records:
-
We completed the first phase of the new and improved volunteer experience project which enabled us to get a new call companion volunteer up and running in six days.
-
Between July and December, we received just under 4,500 applications from people interested in volunteering.
-
In February we received 395 applications from older people wanting to join Re-engage, which was the highest number in any month.
More detail will be available in our upcoming Annual Report, due to be published in the summer.
