All gifts are special and meaningful

Sometimes we are given particularly poignant gifts by our supporters. Ella, who lived in East Lothian, was keen to make sure that older people in her area received support for both their physical and mental wellbeing. By leaving a generous donation in her will to Re-engage, her wishes are now being realised.

Ella’s donation is helping to grow the number of lonely older people in South East Scotland who benefit from our call companions, activity sessions, and tea party groups for companionship and friendly support.

Ella’s executors explained her motivation for leaving such a special gift in her will:

“During her lifetime, Ella was a kind, generous and sociable person. She cared deeply about her friends and acquaintances, and was interested in ways of enhancing both physical and mental wellbeing.

She gave instructions in her Will to use part of her estate for the purpose of providing support and care for the elderly. As executors, we are pleased to be able to honour her wishes through this donation to Re-engage, to build and expand their offering in the locality in which Ella lived.”

The work that Ella’s donation helps to fund is particularly important as the ageing population continues to grow, helping to make sure that more people aged 75 and over in South East Scotland can enjoy healthier, happier lives.

We are extremely grateful to Ella for her foresight and generosity. What an incredible legacy to leave behind!

Any gift you can leave to Re-engage will help make a lasting change to the lives of older people, offering them the chance to make meaningful social connections, and helping to relieve the pain of loneliness.
