We are delighted that The National Lottery Community Trust support our work to end loneliness and social isolation in those over 75.
They have three projects running with us currently and a fourth has just finished:
- A lifeline of friendship in North Yorkshire
- Improving lives in Perth and Fife
- People and Places across Wales
- Power of contact in South Yorkshire (ended September 2019)
It is thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund players that projects like these can be run and communities across the UK are better places as a result.
One of the guests at a tea party group funded by The National Lottery Community Fund said:
“It is a wonderful service and I really enjoying going to the tea parties. Everyone is very nice, and I can’t get over the fact that I don’t have to pay or make a donation.
I look forward to meeting the group as I don’t do anything on a Sunday. Last Saturday I never saw a soul and that’s not unusual. It is wonderful that someone comes and takes me out. I look forward to it.”
About the partnership
The National Lottery Community Fund is all about making communities better and stronger. With their support older people who may have felt very alone, now feel valued as individuals, continue to form friendships, and have local groups that give support.
Through our volunteers we are working together to create better communities and help to enrich the lives of our older guests by giving them something to look forward to.
