BOOST has partnered with Re-engage charity to help recruit its young, Gen Z customer base as new volunteers, supporting older people in need this festive period via weekly telephone calls.
Despite negative stereotypes around work ethic, new research commissioned by BOOST and Re-engage has shown that Gen Z are the age demographic most likely to volunteer, with 60% having done so before.
And with 89% of Brits agreeing that helping others and volunteering is the key to happiness, signing up as a Christmas call companion with Re-engage this Christmas might not just be the best gift you can give to someone in need, but also be the highlight of your own festivities.
Those who have volunteered before noted the main benefits as:
- Feeling like you’re making a difference (57%)
- Giving you a feeling of happiness (48%)
- Feeling part of the community (38%)
- Meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures (36%)
- Increasing your confidence (36%)
- A sense of pride (35%)
- Boosting your self-esteem (32%)
As a Christmas call companion, you’ll make regular telephone calls to an older person experiencing loneliness or isolation throughout the month of December. These friendly chats provide a lifeline of friendship for older people and a vital link with the outside world from which they’ve become isolated.
Plus, for the first 50 volunteers that complete the volunteering onboarding process and have their first call as a Christmas call companion, BOOST will send them a care-package of products to help keep them energised on their volunteering journey.
