In summary

When concerned about the safety or welfare of an adult, you should always act in the best interests of the person and act immediately.

It’s everybody’s responsibility to:

  • Work and volunteer in a way that prevents and protects each other.
  • Be vigilant of the signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns or disclosures as soon as possible to either your group coordinator or to Re-engage.
  • Contact the emergency services immediately by dialling 999 if someone is at immediate risk of harm, or at risk of harming themselves or someone else.
