Loneliness is miserable at any time of year. But the festive period can be a particularly difficult time if you don’t have anyone to spend it with.
In the UK, around a million older people will spend Christmas alone this year.
But a regular phone call can be life-changing – giving an older person something to look forward to and something positive to focus on instead.
We have a very special opportunity coming up that will help to make life less lonely for older people.
Re-engage is taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024. This means that, if you can donate online between 3 and 10 December, your donation will be doubled – making your gift go twice as far!
All online donations will be matched, up to a total of £45,000. Even a small gift, doubled to make twice the difference, will get us closer to the target and mean that more older people can have someone to talk to.
Look out for more details in next month’s newsletter about how to donate, and give the gift of friendship to an older person who is still waiting for a call companion.
