Patricia, 89, a grandmother of seven, joined the Watford 3 tea party group in 2021 and got to know volunteer Tim when he started driving her to the monthly tea parties. We caught up with them both about being part of their local tea party group.

Meet tea party guest Michael
Michael's birthday coincides with Accession Day on February 6th, 1952 - the day that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne. Four years ago, his neighbour encouraged him to join his local tea party group and he has been attending the monthly parties ever since.

A pudding fit for a queen.
In honour of the Queen in her Platinum Jubilee year, Fortnum and Mason launched a nationwide competition to find a recipe for a pudding fit for a queen. Jemma Melvin's recipe for Lemon Swiss Roll and Amaretti Trifle was awarded the title of “platinum pudding” for the this month's jubilee celebrations.

Linda is a guest and volunteer for her local activity group in Wales
Linda, 76, joined her local activity group in her hometown of Penarth as a guest and she liked it so much that she is now the group coordinator. She may be retired, but she likes to keep busy with volunteering and recently completed an Open University degree focusing in health and social care. Fortunately, we found space in her diary for a catch up.

A volunteer's journey
Deborah first started volunteering for Re-engage in 1988 when she was living in London, working as a personal assistant for a head-hunter in Maida Vale. Over the years she has volunteered as a tea party driver, host and group coordinator. Today, at 61, as a host for her local tea party group in Bristol, she share her memories of volunteering with us.
