Over the last 10 years, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised £4.8 million to support our work tackling loneliness and isolation in later life. We are grateful for our long-standing partnership with the Postcode Support Trust. Together, we are reaching more older people across the UK who need support and connection.
Thanks to Postcode Lottery players, we have been able to launch new partnerships, including a recent collaboration with Pickleball for Wellbeing in Scotland.
Christine, 87, a former PE teacher, joined a Re-engage Pickleball group in East Kilbride after the death of her husband, John. She said:
“This really is my first venture back into the world. I spent three years looking after John and had to give up a lot of activities, but going to pickleball is helping me get back to normal. A friend told me about the group, and I really enjoy going along. In fact, I’ve been re-introduced to someone I used to teach with at a local school. I hadn’t seen him for many years, so it was a nice surprise.”
Flexible funding allows us to provide services where they are needed most. This helps us make the greatest possible impact in local communities. Unrestricted funding also allows us to invest in technology, which has helped speed up our volunteer recruitment process, meaning older people can access support more quickly.
