Become a rainbow call companion volunteer

Our award-winning service helps reduce loneliness and isolation among older LGBT+ people.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a rainbow call companion. Due to an overwhelming response, we’ve reached capacity for applications at this time.

If you know an older person who identifies as LGBT+, who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation – perhaps they’ve lost their partner or moved to a new area – please consider referring them. We have telephone befrienders ready and waiting to support them.

While we currently have enough rainbow call companion volunteers, there are other call companion services you might want to explore. You can find out more via the links below – we’d love to welcome you.

“This work takes courage and persistence and I am really grateful for your efforts which, I have no doubt, will have benefitted LGBT individuals greatly.”

It's all too easy –– much easier than we'd imagine in this day and age –– to be lonely and isolated as we get older and society shifts round us at its usual oblivious fast pace. Re-engage is a charity there for LGBTQ+ people in our later years who find themselves marginalised, lonely or isolated. It's a network of friendly and trusted folk who'll keep in touch. Thank goodness for it. It does a world of good.
