Volunteer takes on 10-day cycle challenge for Re-engage
Volunteer Dan Croxen-John is undertaking an epic 10-day challenge that will see him cycle from Land’s End to John o’ Groats to raise money for Re-engage. Dan, who runs e-commerce company, AWA, has been a dedicated volunteer for his local tea party group in York for some years now. He aims to raise £12,000 for Re-engage and his company will match all donations.

Linda is a guest and volunteer for her local activity group in Wales
Linda, 76, joined her local activity group in her hometown of Penarth as a guest and she liked it so much that she is now the group coordinator. She may be retired, but she likes to keep busy with volunteering and recently completed an Open University degree focusing in health and social care. Fortunately, we found space in her diary for a catch up.

Meet call companion Erin
Becoming aware of how isolated an older neighbour felt during the pandemic prompted 21-year-old Erin to get in touch with Re-engage. Today, Erin is one of our call companion volunteers and a wonderful example of the positive impact of bringing different generations together.

Meet rainbow call companion Julian
Julian, 47, a hospitality business consultant who lives in Southsea is one of our first rainbow call companion volunteers. Julian is happily married and has friends and family around him. He told us that, by becoming a rainbow call companion, he hopes to give something back to a generation that may have felt less fortunate.

When Avril, in Stockton-on-Tees, was thinking about what she wanted to do when she retired from her job at Durham University, volunteering was top of her list.
